About Us

Hello, and welcome!

Who?

We are the 23rd Guelph Brownies! Brownies are a branch of Girl Guides of Canada. Girls may enrol in Brownies if they are in grade 2 or 3 (usually ages 7/8). If you're younger or older, find your respective branch here!

When?

Our unit meets on Wednesday nights, from 6:30-8:00pm. Our Brownie meetings begin sometime in September, and run until late May, or early June.

Where?

We typically meet at Fred A. Hamilton school, though we sometimes meet elsewhere for field trips!

What?

Once-a-week meetings, girl centered programming, fun activities, crafts, games, songs, and awesome field trips! Girls will work on program badges with the unit, and can work to earn their own interest badges as well! We have at least 3 overnight activities every year, as well as weekend outings. Here is a sampling of our past activities:

  • Day trip to Mountsberg Conservation Area
  • Spy Camp
  • Queen's Park and Ripley's Aquarium (Year End Trip)
  • Halloween Party
  • Pajama Party
  • Beach Night
  • Karate Class

Why?

If you're thinking about joining Guiding, think no more. Here's why we as leaders are committed to providing the best experience possible.

Girl Guides of Canada helps girls learn about global and cultural issues, explore career opportunities, and spend time developing skills in arts and science. Girl Guides focuses on the idea of GIRL GREATNESS, and helps girls gain confidence, independence, and responsibility. Most of all, we have fun doing it!

If you don't believe us, believe our parents! These quotes were gathered from our anonymous year-end surveys.
"Overall great experience for my little girl. Her confidence improved through the relationships she built both with peers and leaders. Thank you for putting them first and making it enjoyable for all."
"Thank you. The value of the model of the older girl relationships is great too, within and between the groups..."
"Our daughter joined brownies in hopes to grow and develop friendships with other girls. Brownies has taught our daughter how she can contribute her kindness and shine in our community. We are very happy with all her she has accomplished with her unit."
And to sum it up:
"The best experience I could have hoped for for my daughter."
So what are you waiting for? Come inspire girl greatness. We can't wait to meet you!
